SMS “itchy” to 40771 to donate R20 and win Nike gear

Every year through LIFESTRUCK, Wayne and I have tried to give a little back, or rather pay a little forward.  This year we have a slightly different plan

Last year we raised funds for Lucca Leadership.  Having been exposed to the wonderful work that the Kids of Kurland (http://www.kidsofkurland.com) charity is doing for the kids in the Crags area near Plett, we decided to see if there was some way we could contribute.  So here it is. Wayne and I will grow our beards for the 45 days leading up to Ironman on the 25 April, and we will compete on the day with our hugely irritating facial hair (if the Movember efforts are anything to go by its gonna be muck!)

So how can you can get involved?
Firstly; you can join us in the hair growing festivities yourself by making a R250 donation (and if you don’t make it to the start line with your itchy45 forfeit of a further R500) to the Kids of Kurland and begin your growth on 11 March.  Girls are welcome to join in by sporting 45 days of growth on their toned Ironman legs!

Secondly; make a donation to support one of the Itchy45 athletes.  This will be done using the old school sponsorship method, where you donate a designated amount per day of growth (e.g. R3.00 per day x 45 = R135 donation). – mail either of us your contribution so we can keep a record.

Finally; we have set up a sms line where you can donate R20 to the Kids of Kurland per sms – sms the word “itchy” to 40771. Nike have donated a set of running gear (Shoes, cap, shorts, and top) which we will give away as a prize on the SMS line.
